Rules & Policies

The Yankee Classic DanceSport Championships is a National Dance Council of America recognized event and is run under its rules and regulations. All participants are obliged to adhere by the Official Rules published by the NDCA which can be found in the official NDCA rulebook (located online by clicking on the "Logo" to the right.)
Private Video Cameras are not allowed in the Ballroom. Yankee Classic reserves the right to not allow admission for anyone not adhereing to this policy. Yankee Classic also reserves the right to have security remove anyone not adhereing to the video camera rules without refunding admission price.
Both Professional & Amateur couples are required to be registered with the NDCA in order to take part in NDCA events. It is optional for Student/Student or Students competing with their teachers in Pro-Am divisions to register.
The NDCA is an affiliate of the World Dance & DanceSport Council (WDDSC).

Dress Code
AMATEUR/ AMATEUR NOVICE :
CLOSED SYLLABUS DIVISIONS.
Novice Competitors dancing in BRONZE, SIlVER and GOLD level closed SYLLABUS divisions in both International and American Styles are permitted to wear costumes if they so chose, however costumes are not required.
OPEN NOVICE - costumes are encouraged in this division.
JUNIORS:
Juvenile, PreTeen I and PreTeen II Couples are NOT ALLOWED to wear costumes. Appropriate costumes for all others are allowed.
PRO-AMATEUR and STUDENT/STUDENT Divisions.
Competition attire should be worn by competitors whenever possible.
WHAT TO WEAR?
Where costumes are not permitted:
Ladies - cocktail or suitable dress
Gentlemen - dark suit, tuxedo, dance vest, or sweater jacket.
